Interlibrary Loan is a sharing of resources among libraries.  Interlibrary Loan makes it possible to gain access to the library collections from across the world.

Who can use the Interlibrary Loan service?

Any adult Grant County Library cardholder may place requests through Interlibrary Loan as long as the account has no overdue items and no outstanding fees. USD 214 Schools.

 

What type of material can I order?

Interlibrary Loan is excellent for:

  • Articles and books from academic or specialty publishers
  • Recent or popular titles not on current bestseller lists
  • Documentary films
  • Books on compact disc or Playaways
  • Books not available in the Grant County Library collection

 

How much does it cost?

The Grant County Library does not charge for using the Interlibrary Loan service; however, some lending libraries charge a fee. If you have placed an Interlibrary Loan request you will be contacted if there are any fees associated with your request before it is shipped. The Library will not exceed the amount you wish to pay.


How do I make a request?

Requests can be made by contacting any staff member of the Grant County Library in person or over the phone.

 

How many requests may I submit?

You are allowed three active Interlibrary Loan requests.

 

How long does it take for a request to be filled?

Most requests are filled in one to two weeks depending on whether the item is immediately available from the lending library.

 

How will I know when my item is in?

You will receive a phone call as soon as your request is available for pickup. Be sure to pick up your request as soon as you receive notification to have the maximum length of time. Materials will be held at the front desk for three days after notification, if not picked up within that time period, they may be sent back to lending library.

 

How long may I keep materials?

Loan periods are determined by the lending library so they will vary. Please note that Interlibrary Loan materials cannot be renewed.

 

Can you keep me updated on the status of my request?

You will be notified as soon as the item arrives or if we are unable to locate a lending library. Because of the high volume of requests we process, the Interlibrary Loan office is unable to offer status updates. However, you may contact Nidia Gallegos with questions regarding the status of your request by phoning the Library: 620-356-1433.

 

I requested three items and only received two, why?

More than one lending library may be used to fill your order. This means items may not arrive at the same time; items may have different due dates, so please pick up each item when it arrives.

 

Will my request ever expire?

You will be contacted by staff if your order has not been filled within two months at which time you may decide to reorder the item.  Your Interlibrary Loan request will expire if the order is unable to be filled within six months.

 

Late, lost or damaged items.

Contact Library staff if your Interlibrary Loan item is lost or damaged. The lending library will provide a replacement fee for the item.
