Are you thinking about the weather turning cooler, and how you’ll spend your time indoors? Fall is a great season to start a new project, or finish one you’ve already begun. Wouldn’t it be fun to join a group of stitch loving crafters for a relaxing afternoon set aside just for handwork? The Grant County Library would like to invite adults to join Creative Stitches, a new hand stitching group. Our first get together will be on September 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Bring your own project, or begin a crocheted beanie. A pattern will be provided for anyone who calls the Library to register. If you choose to make the beanie, you will need to bring a size L crochet hook and two skeins of bulky yarn. (Weight: 5/ bulky – 124 yards, 4 oz; two skeins) This is not an instructional workshop. You need to already know how to crochet, knit, or do whatever type of hand stitching you bring with you. Seating is limited, so please register by calling the Library at 356-1433.
Need more reasons to join? Crocheting, knitting and other hand stitching projects are good for you! Relaxed, repetitive motions such as the ones used in crochet and knitting can help calm down the body and the brain. … Hand stitching also helps with fine motor skills and keeping your fingers and hands feeling good as you age.
